Diabetic Screening Panel

This panel includes three essential blood tests that assess your blood sugar status and insulin function. It helps detect diabetes, prediabetes, and insulin resistance at an early stage:

  • Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS)

  • HbA1C (Glycated Hemoglobin)

  • Insulin Level

🔍 Why Is It Important?

Diabetes is a chronic condition that often progresses silently. Early detection allows for lifestyle changes or treatment to prevent serious complications like heart disease, kidney failure, nerve damage, and blindness.

🔢 Who Should Get Tested?

✅ Anyone over age 35 as part of regular screening

✅ People who are overweight or obese

✅ Individuals with a family history of diabetes

✅ Women with a history of gestational diabetes or PCOS

✅ Those with high blood pressure or abnormal cholesterol levels

FBS

  • Fasting Blood Sugar : Measures blood glucose after fasting for at least 8 hours

  • Normal range: 70–99 mg/dL

  • ⬆ High: Indicates prediabetes (100–125) or diabetes (≥126)

  • ⬇ Low: Could suggest too much insulin or other metabolic issues

HbA1C

  • Glycated hemoglobin reflects average blood glucose levels over the past 2–3 months

  • Normal range: Less than 5.7%

  • ⬆ High: 5.7–6.4% = Prediabetes, ≥6.5% = Diabetes

  • ⬇ Low: Rare, but could result from anemia or other blood disorders

Insulin Level

Indicates how much insulin your pancreas is producing

Normal range (fasting): 2–20 µIU/mL (values may vary slightly by lab)

⬆ High: May indicate insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, or early type 2 diabetes

⬇ Low: Could suggest type 1 diabetes or pancreatic dysfunction
